Short CV of Constantinos M. Paleos

Dr. C. M. Paleos was born in Chios, Greece, and studied Chemistry at the Universities of Salonica and Athens, where he obtained his undergraduate degree in Chemistry. He received his Ph.D. at Drexel University in Philadelphia, USA, under the supervision of Prof. M. M. Labes for studies on the Reactivity in Liquid Crystalline Media. In 1973, after three years with Amoco Chemicals (Illinois) and Motor Oil (Athens), he joined the Institute of Physical Chemistry at the National Center for Scientific Research  “Demokritos” in Aghia Paraskevi Attikis, where he has been Director of the Institute of Physical Chemistry since 1994. In the period 1991-1992 he was visiting professor at Louis Pasteur University, Strasbourg. In 2006 he established together with Dr. T. Boulikas the spin-off company 'DendriGen' in which he is now Scientific Director. His main research activities and interests are in the area of “Nanomaterials of Supramolecular Organized Structure” including the formation and characterization of novel liquid crystals, molecular recognition of liposomal aggregates, development of materials through non-covalent interactions of complementary molecules. He is also involved in the preparation and characterization of functional micelles, dendrimers and liposomes and in the development of drug and gene delivery systems based on liposomes and dendritic polymers.
